Long Island Community Fellowship will hold an Ash Wednesday Service on February 14th at 7:oopm to mark the beginning of the Lenten Season. We will also have a special prayer circle every Wednesday at 7:00pm thru Holy Week.
Lent is a time of repentance, fasting and preparation for the coming of Easter. It is a time of self-examination and reflection. Christians focus on their relationship with God, often choosing to give up something or to volunteer and give of themselves for others.
Jesus was sent into the wilderness by the Spirit. Where he fasted and prayed for 40 days. During his time there he was tempted by Satan and found clarity and strength to resist temptation. Afterwards, he was ready to begin his ministry.
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights,he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘We shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
