BaptismYou're first step towards baptism is making the decision and we celebrate that decision!

Baptism is a commitment to God, to the church, and to one’s own spiritual life. We believe that the baptism of water is an outward sign of an inward spiritual experience.

This is the sacrament of Initiation into the congregation in a formal way for those who have never been baptized and normally occurs at a worship service with our congregation. LICF recognizes baptisms performed by other churches if it is meaningful to the individual.

Youth and Adult baptisms are preceded by instruction over a period of weeks with the pastor. Infant baptisms are preceded by a discussion with the parents or sponsor of the infant about the responsibilities of raising the child in our faith.

Matthew 3:13 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
