Transgender Day of Remembrance

Dec 1
2013

On Sunday November 17th the annual Transgender Day Of Remembrance(TDOR) was held at Old South Haven Church in Brookhaven. A large contingent from the Long Island Community Fellowship were on hand  to add their voice, and help to say NO to the violence, bigotry and hatred.

We joined with the transgender community in peace and solidarity as we all remembered those lost this past year to hate crimes.

Our “shy guy” Eddie Finan was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening and helped supply some needed humor to this solemn event and our own Reverend Gale was a guest speaker and gave a powerful inspirational message with her enlightening words for changes needed in our society.

The LICF Gospel Choir lent their angelic voices to the evening with powerful performances of “I Go to the Rock”, My Life Is In Your Hands” and “He’s God” which ended in a standing ovation. The evening closed with the Johnnie Moore Singers, consisting of LICF Choir members Johnnie, Norbie, Barbara and Vicky, sharing their rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Gone Too Soon”.
